Who can build a stablecoin escrow contract on Base?
0xJakess is a smart contract engineer who has shipped stablecoin escrow on Base. AtlasOra's booking escrow held USDC and EURC with split and partial releases, refunds and an Aave v3 yield vault, and 0xJakess built the custody, settlement and USDC payout contracts for Zuuna's sports prediction market.
How does a stablecoin escrow smart contract work?
The payer deposits USDC or another stablecoin into the contract, which records the parties and the release conditions. The contract holds the funds until the condition is met, then releases them to the payee in full or in part, or refunds the payer if the deal is cancelled. No party can move the funds outside those rules.
How do you stop an escrow payout from getting stuck?
Keep fees accounted apart from principal so a fee calculation can never block a release, pause features individually instead of the whole contract, and run invariant tests that check the contract always holds at least what it owes.
Can customers pay by card and still use onchain escrow?
Yes. A payment webhook tells the backend a card payment cleared, and a server treasury wallet creates the same onchain booking a wallet payment would. AtlasOra ran card and wallet checkout into one escrow this way.
Can funds earn yield while they sit in escrow?
Yes, by routing idle funds to a lending market such as Aave v3 through a vault that tracks principal exactly, keeps an idle buffer for withdrawals and harvests yield separately. It adds a dependency on the lending protocol, which should be weighed against the yield.
Why build stablecoin escrow on Base?
Base has native USDC and EURC issued by Circle, low transaction fees and full EVM tooling, so escrow contracts are cheap to use and payers can fund them straight from exchanges and wallets.
